      <description><![CDATA[<p>Halifax Harbour Bridges (Link NS)<b> </b>operates and maintains the Angus L. Macdonald and A. Murray MacKay Bridges, supporting over 34 million crossings every year. It’s a shared responsibility across our entire team.</p> <p>Reporting to the Supervisor, Field Services, the&nbsp;<b>Electrician</b> position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, administration, and troubleshooting of intelligent surveillance systems, traffic management systems, and other technology located on bridges and associated properties. The responsibilities include installing, maintaining, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic control systems.</p> <p><b>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</b></p> <ul><li>Adhere to the Organization’s safety protocols, standards, and Safe Work Practices, including mandatory safety training, completion of Job Hazard Assessments, reporting hazards to the Supervisor Field Services, and taking corrective actions to address, mitigate, or control risks. Additionally, contribute suggestions to enhance the overall Safety program.</li><li>Install, inspect, replace, or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components.</li><li>Conduct tests on electrical and electronic equipment, assessing continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.</li><li>Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial, electrical, and electronic control systems, along with other related devices.</li><li>Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, ensuring compliance with codes.</li><li>Execute preventive maintenance programs and maintain detailed maintenance records.</li><li>Maintain and troubleshoot traffic management and associated field technology systems.</li><li>Maintain, monitor and repair HHB’s extensive roadway lighting systems.</li><li>Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of surveillance camera systems.</li><li>Conduct scheduled checks on electronics in bridges and buildings.</li><li>Utilize volt/ohm meters, oscilloscopes, and other equipment and software for testing and diagnostics.</li><li>Participate in job-related safety training and skills development as required.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul> <p>&nbsp;<b>Requirements:</b></p><ul><li>Clean driving record and hold a valid Class 5 Nova Scotia Driver’s License. Driver Abstract will be requested before employment.</li><li>Demonstrate intermediate computer proficiency.</li><li>Have completed and maintain Red Seal Electrician Certification.</li><li><span>Capable of operating in high-stress environments with minimal supervision, particularly in safety-sensitive roles.</span></li><li>Successful completion of physical demand testing and a clean criminal background check.</li><li>Display punctuality, dependability, and a positive can-do attitude.</li><li>Willingness to work overtime or extended shifts when necessary.</li><li>Effective communication skills with individuals possessing diverse technical/non-technical knowledge, skills, or experience.</li><li>Competent in working independently or collaboratively as part of a team, ensuring efficiency while prioritizing excellent customer service and maintaining pride in delivering quality work.</li></ul> <p><b>Assets:</b></p><ul><li>Essential safety training includes Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, Aerial Lifts, WHMIS, and First Aid. Shift work, on-call response, overtime, or extended hours will be required based on operational demands. It’s a shared responsibility across our entire team.</p><p>Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the&nbsp;<b>Maintenance Technician</b>&nbsp;position is responsible for the general maintenance, operation and repair of Halifax Harbour Bridges (HHB) equipment, vehicles, buildings, bridge structures, bridge systems, streets and properties. The Maintenance Technician position is also responsible for winter maintenance and snow removal.</p><p> </p><p>This position is deemed a *safety-sensitive position as work is completed in variable weather temperatures and adverse weather conditions, working at extreme heights from 170 – 320 feet above the bridge, and in confined spaces below the bridge or in the bridge towers. A critical accountability is adherence to the HHB Safety standards, policies and processes. This includes hazard assessments, wearing required Personal Protective Equipment, proper access to confined spaces, safety observations and being able to provide rescue to co-workers as necessary.</p><p></p><p><b>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li>Follow HHB safety policies, procedures, standards, Safe Work Practices, and reporting requirements.</li><li>General maintenance, operation and repair of Halifax Harbour Bridges (HHB) equipment, vehicles, buildings, bridge structures, bridge systems, streets and properties.</li><li>Operate vehicles, mid-sized equipment, and power tools, including trucks, towing vehicles, ATVS, bobcats, street sweepers, tractors, pay loaders, cart carriers, power lifts, and pneumatic tools.</li><li>Operate snow removal equipment such as tractors, loaders, brine spreaders, snowplows, snow blowers and salt spreaders to remove snow and ice from bridges, streets, sidewalks, parking lots and other HHB properties.</li><li>General maintenance and operation of vehicles including pre-inspection checks, tune-ups and parts replacements, oil and grease changes, fluid levels check, replacing lights, cleaning vehicles, tire replacement and rotation, checking tire pressure.</li><li>Repair, maintain, and perform regular inspections of equipment and tools to ensure they are in working condition.</li><li>Conduct regular checks and safety inspections of workplaces, diesel generators, and fire systems.</li><li>Assist in traffic control to close and open lanes as per construction and maintenance requirements.</li><li>Complete job-related safety training and skills development as required.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul><p><b>Requirements:</b></p><ul><li>A valid Class 3 NS Driver’s License and clean driving record (Driver Abstract will be required as a condition of employment). </li><li>Must pass a physical demands assessment and a criminal background check as a condition of employment.</li><li>Experience working in a construction environment or performing work in the construction trades</li><li>2+ years of experience in a Maintenance or Maintenance-related position.</li><li>Able to work in a *safety-sensitive position, in adverse weather conditions (rain, snow, ice), at extreme heights (170-320 feet), in direct traffic, and in confined spaces.</li><li>Able to work in a fast-paced environment within a team or independently with limited supervision.</li><li>Able to work in an efficient manner while providing excellent customer service and exhibiting pride in quality work.</li><li>Punctual and dependable with a can-do attitude.</li></ul><p><b>Assets include:&nbsp;</b>Valid Safety training in Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, WHMIS and First Aid.
